The last few weeks and months have been some of the most action packed in living memory of our country’s political history. For Americans concerned for the state of our democratic institutions, many recent events can induce a certain anxiety about the future of our country. Perhaps even a sense of helplessness as we are forced to watch two tickets of presidential nominees duke it out on the national stage.

However, America is not a country where four people decide elections. Nor is it a country where a dozen, hundred, or even a thousand people decide elections.

It’s not up to the candidates; it’s up to us to take action. With less than two months left, we need a plan to mobilize the people. People whose top priority is the preservation of democracy. Don’t be swayed by polls or rallies—what matters is voter contact and outreach. This isn’t about ideology; it’s about country over party, democracy versus autocracy, freedom over constraint.

Luckily, the Union has been working tirelessly to make sure that every rallying cry we make is backed up by dozens more concrete actions, and I hope you’ll take the next step and join us at some of them. You can join meetings for our state teams, and build consistent engagement in some of the most important battlegrounds for democracy (see links to each meeting below), you can join us at one of our Democracy Defender Trainings ([link removed]) to match your skills to one of our specialized teams, or you can explore our Volunteer Action Center ([link removed]) , and find the opportunity best for you.
