Dear John,

I am so proud of our community.

Yes, my time at work now includes working at home in my makeshift office with periodic interruptions to dress my dog Windsor in bow ties for video conferences for office morale.

But I’ve seen our staff attend PFLAG Chapter meetings across the country through PFLAG Connects, watched our staff engage in important conversations during Something to Talk About Live, and seen the numbers of people accessing our digital publications for free. And we’re all making the most of uncertain times.

In the spirit of this togetherness, we’ve joined forces with #GivingTuesday and nonprofits worldwide to celebrate #GivingTuesdayNow -- a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

PFLAG National is pleased to announce a Board of Directors challenge grant that will match donations up to a total of $10,000 raised today through #GivingTuesdayNow. Please give to PFLAG National today and have your contribution go twice as far to help LGBTQ+ people and their families stay connected.

As a friend of PFLAG National, join us and use the individual power of generosity to stay connected and help heal our community. Whatever you can do -- monetary or not -- will mean a lot. Here are just a few ways we invite you to join us:

  • Donate a cash gift now: Any gift, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference to connecting LGBTQ+ people and their families to the resources they need today. Remember, gifts up to a total of $10,000 will be matched, so your donation will go twice as far! Give a gift online or text CONNECTS to 41444.
  • Give a non-cash gift: There are many ways to give back in ways that can benefit you tax-wise as well. Consider giving a gift from your IRA, donating stock, or giving from your Donor Advised Fund.
  • Advocate to keep families connected: PFLAG families, like all families, rely on the U.S. Postal Service and its workforce to keep us connected. Send your email--or tweet it out--to the president, and tell him to Save the Post Office!
  • Share how #PFLAGConnects YOU on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram: Spread the word about how PFLAG is meeting you where you are and connects you and your family to the resources you need, education to pass on, and actions you can take.

I am proud to continue to fight for LGBTQ+ people with you each and every day. Will you join us for #GivingTuesdayNow?

We can’t wait to see you,

Brian K. Bond
