** Pints & Postcards is back!
------------------------------------------------------------
You’re writing postcards. We’re writing postcards. Let’s write postcards together… maybe over a pint or two? Join us at Standard Deviant this Sunday, August 25, at 4 PM. We’ll be writing to Arizona. No materials or prior knowledge required—we’ll have postcards, stamps, scripts, and pens ready for you. Standard Deviant has COVID-safe outdoor seating as well as indoor seating.

Postcards are proven to make a difference in tight races, and we need to reach every possible voter for the highest possible turnout.

RSVP on Eventbrite ([link removed]) —we’d love to see you there!

We saved SB 1374—for now, but the fight isn’t over yet
------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to your calls, SB 1374 ([link removed]) , was saved from the suspense file, where it essentially would have died. The bill would partially restore Net Metering and allow schools and renters to benefit from rooftop solar.

Thanks to pressure from voters like you, it was voted on and passed by the Appropriations Committee on Friday, and our Assemblymember Haney voted YES, as we asked.

The next step is for the bill to be voted on by the full Assembly floor. We’ll keep pressuring our Assemblymembers to support it.

Remember: your calls really work, so when in doubt, contact that elected official!

Sí Se Puede—CD22 Fundraiser with Central Valley Matters
------------------------------------------------------------
Central Valley Matters is holding a fundraiser to support grassroots groups building the blue wave in CD-22 and Central Valley. They aim to inform underrepresented voters and increase engagement and mobilization. Dolores Huerta will be speaking at this virtual event. RSVP on Mobilize ([link removed]) or donate here ([link removed]) .

Thanks to your support, the California Grassroots Alliance hit their fundraising goal
------------------------------------------------------------
Part of how we’ll win back control of the House of Representatives is winning six key seats right here in California. Our friends at the California Grassroots Alliance have been working to raise money for Field Team 6 ([link removed]) to register voters in these six Congressional districts.

Since our last newsletter, that fundraiser has reached its goal. Field Team 6 will use this money to register thousands of new voters, most of them Democrats (“blue”) or no party preference (“purple”), in these six target districts. This registration effort will help make the difference in these districts.

Remember: the road to our House Majority goes through California, so we need every voter we can get on board. Donate or take action on the Alliance’s website ([link removed]) .

It’s 2024. Are you staying safe from COVID-19?
------------------------------------------------------------
As 2024 progresses, we’re now several months into a surge of COVID-19 ([link removed]) .

COVID-19 hasn’t gone away. It’s still making us sick and still disabling people with long COVID ([link removed]) . Wearing a mask helps keep you from getting the virus and spreading it to others—the flip side of which is, not masking enables you to get infected and to spread it to others.

For this reason, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health has encouraged residents to wear masks in crowded indoor spaces ([link removed]) , as have other public health authorities such as Contra Costa County’s ([link removed]) .

And in just a month or so, we’ll have a new round of COVID-19 vaccines for 2024–2025. Make sure to get yours—and your flu shot—promptly. Vaccines help you get less sick when you do get COVID-19, and make it more likely that you’ll make a full recovery.

COVID-19 is a part of our present reality and will be for the foreseeable future. We can maintain healthy, full lives by acting accordingly.
