Friends and neighbors,

I wanted to update you on the latest news regarding the “megabus” bill that Democrats passed in the final moments of the 2024 legislative session. As I mentioned in an end-of-session email, instead working together, the Democrats’ created and passed a massive, 1,400-page bill in the final hours of the 2024 session. It was rushed through without proper debate, and many of us warned that it was likely unconstitutional.

Those concerns have now led to a lawsuit from UnitedHealth Group, which is challenging the bill on the grounds that it violates the Single Subject Clause of our state’s constitution. This clause exists to prevent exactly what the Democrats did -- packing unrelated provisions into one enormous bill that no one has time to properly review or understand. The “megabus” included everything from taxes to health care to traffic cameras -- all crammed into a single bill. The complete lack of transparency and the utter disregard for rules and procedures are troubling and should enrage every Minnesotan.

This lawsuit isn’t just about one company’s interests. It’s about upholding the integrity of our government and protecting the rights of all Minnesotans. The courts will now decide whether this bill holds up, but regardless of the outcome, we need to work toward a government that operates openly and fairly.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

God Bless,

Glenn
