Former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham savages MAGA cult leader in surprise DNC convention speech
Stephanie Grisham, who was Trump's White House press secretary from July 2019 to April 2020, tore into her former boss with a serious of damning anecdotes, telling the world that the disgraced ex-president referred to his fans as "basement dwellers" and complained about not having enough cameras focused on him while in an ICU full of dying COVID patients. "He was mad that the cameras were not watching him. He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth," she said. "He used to tell me, 'It doesn't matter what you say, Stephanie — say it enough and people will believe you.' But it does matter — what you say matters and what you don't say matters." It does matter indeed — and hopefully it will matter very much that the nation hears these things about a morally bankrupt man very much in the running for Worst Person in the World.

Abortion rights champion surges to stop MAGA extremist Kari Lake's plot to seize our Senate majority
Ruben Gallego for Senate: Mitch McConnell will stop at nothing to retake the Senate, even if that means giving power to one of the most radical of Trump’s election-denying, democracy-threatening, abortion-rights-denying acolytes, Kari Lake. Her election lies helped spark the mob attack on January 6th and has even called for gun violence if Trump gets convicted of his crimes. This November, she'll be running against star Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego, and it's on all of us to help Ruben ensure that Kari Lake never sees the inside of the Senate. Will you chip in to protect our Senate majority and elect Ruben Gallego?
Barack and Michelle Obama send crowds wild as they blast Trump in raucous DNC speeches
The former first lady and 44th president delivered absolutely electrifying, back-to-back speeches last night in Chicago, returning to the city that catapulted their meteoric rise in Democratic politics some 20 years ago. Michelle Obama's familiar "when they go low, we go high" refrain from years past was replaced with a far-more confrontational tone that truly met the moment, as she delivered perhaps the most memorable zinger of the night: "Who’s going to tell [Trump] that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs?" Barack followed his wife's stunning, unapologetic speech with a signature performance of his own, celebrating President Biden's historic record, forcefully making the case for his friend, Kamala Harris, and laying bare what's really at stake in November. Imploring voters to recall the chaos, incompetence, and dysfunction of Trump's disastrous term, the former president noted, "We have seen that movie before, and we all know that the sequel is usually worse."

Nicole Shanahan says RFK Jr. campaign considering joining forces with Trump
Madame vice brain-worm told The Impact Theory podcast that "there's two options that we're looking at, and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump. Or we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump ... and explain to our base why we're making this decision." Seeing as Kennedy is currently polling around 5%, pulling votes mostly from Trump, his dropping out of the race would be not great for Democrats. Fundraising has all but dried up for the roadkill collector's longshot bid, and it certainly won't get any better now that this news is out there!

Netanyahu sabotages Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks behind the scenes
Also competing for Worst Person in the World is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been deliberately sabotaging ceasefire talks behind the scenes. While headlines boomed out "HAMAS REJECTS CEASEFIRE DEAL" across the media yesterday, the truth of the matter is that the "deal" contained no permanent ceasefire and no withdrawal of Israeli troops. Instead, it contained numerous provisions added in by Netanyahu that he knew would be unacceptable to Hamas. Israeli officials told Axios that Netanyahu is refusing to give his own negotiators enough space to make a deal. Netanyahu's political survival depends on perpetuating the brutal conflict, and as the incessant slaughter continues unabated, it is becoming clear that, unless the United States exerts some leverage on Netanyahu, there will be no hostage deal or ceasefire — just more and more bloodshed.
Fox News' Maria Bartiromo's wild and “kind of racist” election conspiracy theory collapses immediately
The thoroughly unhinged, right-wing talking head, who ostensibly works for a *news network,* posted to nüTwitter last weekend that her "friend's wife" saw "a massive line of immigrants" obtaining driver’s licenses and registering to vote at three Department of Motor Vehicles offices in Weatherford. Texas. Bartiromo brought this story up MULTIPLE times while on the air, including in interviews with Republican senators. Of course, it's all bullshit, as the story fell apart under the slightest bit of scrutiny. Sgt. William Lockridge, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the account Bartiromo promoted was "simply false" and "kind of racist." Contrary to Bartiromo’s friend’s wife’s account (how's that for credible sourcing?), there is no office for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles in Weatherford. How this deranged and deluded person is still allowed to remain on the air is beyond any understanding.

Doug Emhoff, praising Kamala Harris as "joyful warrior," shows his personal side in DNC speech
Democratic National Convention-goers and millions of Americans watching at home got a chance to see second gentleman Doug Emhoff up close and personal last night, and the man who would — and should — become America's first first gentleman did not disappoint. Emhoff shared a goofy, heartwarming story about his first date with Kamala and revealed that the couple will be celebrating their 10th anniversary on Thursday — the same night Harris will formally become the first Black and Indian-American woman presidential nominee in our nation's 248-year history. Welcome to the 21st century, folks!
Drunken buffoon and Trump-loving RNC darling Hulk Hogan threatens to "body-slam" Kamala Harris
The hot-dog-skinned 2024 RNC "celebrity" speaker continued to showcase his sterling GOP values by denigrating Vice President Harris' heritage AND threatening to BODY SLAM her while in a drunken rage at a beer festival in Medina, Ohio. “That was not me, that was the beers talking," he joked. Hogan, it should be noted, was fired from the WWE in 2015 after he was caught on tape hurling racial epithets. Nothing sums up the difference between the two major political parties than their speakers at their conventions — while the DNC gives a platform to brave, American women forced to suffer the horrific consequences Republicans' heinous anti-abortion laws, the GOP celebrates washed-up, racist morons pretending to be tough-guy patriots.
Elon Musk’s Twitter deal may be the worst leveraged buyout deal for banks since the 2008 crash
It turns out that giving Elon Musk $13 billion so he could buy Twitter for $4.20 a share — a price that HE picked because "lol weed" — was not a very good idea, as it has become painfully clear the banks who loaned him the cash are never getting their money back. Nearly two years on, investment banks have been unable to offload the debt, tying up precious capital and limiting their ability to originate and finance more deals. Twitter is on the hook for nearly $1 billion a year in interest payments but only rakes in about $600 million, which isn't going to change anytime soon since Elon Musk told his advertisers to, and we quote, "go f*ck yourself." It's gotten so bad that the Barclays senior mergers & acquisitions team were informed last year their annual compensation would shrink by 40% over the previous year. The cut was so severe that almost a quarter of the bank’s 200-plus managing directors quit. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, who couldn't have seen this coming, boo hoo, tiny violin, etc.
Chuck Schumer floats history-making Senate votes on abortion and voting rights
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer single-handedly raised the stakes of the 2024 elections on Tuesday, revealing he'd consider carving out rare filibuster-exempt exceptions to allow votes on protecting voting and abortion rights. Efforts to do so in 2022 were stymied by Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, but their Senate careers have gone off to the corporate lobbyist's office in the sky, so if Democrats can hold the Senate — and that's a big if — we could start seeing some serious changes for the better around here. Most importantly? Arizona's Ruben Gallego, who is running for Sinema's vacant seat and IS, in fact, in favor of reforming the long-past-its-shelf-life filibuster.
