Fellow Kansan,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I am meeting with Kansans across the Big First this week, and I am looking forward to hearing how I can continue to serve you in Congress. Follow me on social media to see more of my work across the Big First this week.

I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.

Yours in service,

2024 Mann Listening Tour Recap

Last week, I completed my fourth annual Mann Listening Tour with my 246th town hall over the past four years. Since being elected to Congress, I've hosted at least one town hall in every county of the Big First each year. There are few things I enjoy more than meeting directly with Kansans and hearing the issues that are most important to them. Kansas is the pilot light of America, and it is my job to get to the middle of the issues that matter, have hard conversations, and get to work to ensure that light never goes out.

Throughout this year's Mann Listening Tour, I heard Kansans sounding the alarm over America's wide-open southern border, out-of-control spending, burdensome government red-tape, rampant inflation, skyrocketing $35 trillion national debt, encroachment on our basic freedoms, and the Biden-Harris Administration's weaponization of the federal government. While the White House sits idly by, Republicans have been working to solve these problems by passing legislation that reins in our government spending, secures our border, protects our freedoms, and ensures the government works for the people rather than against them. It is a privilege to fight for Kansans in the Big First in Congress, and I will never give up on ensuring our best days are still ahead.

K-State Leadership Symposium

Last week, I gave an update on the Farm Bill at the K-State Leadership Symposium in Manhattan. I supported the House Agriculture Committee’s bipartisan, fiscally conservative Farm Bill that not only serves Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers, but stewards tax dollars well. The Big First District is all about agriculture and it's part of the reason I feel so strongly about passing a Farm Bill as soon as possible.

Since the last Farm Bill was passed, the world has drastically changed, and our producers need certainty now more than ever before. Our agricultural community needs a Farm Bill that answers the needs of today, not six years ago. It is past time for Congress to pass the Food, Farm, and National Security Act of 2024, that gives our producers much needed certainty as they work day in and day out to feed, fuel, and clothe the world.

Visiting Lawrence Memorial Hospital

All Kansans should have access to affordable, quality, and accessible health care. Health care is not a one-size-fits-all policy solution, and different hospitals have unique needs for their communities. During my visit to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, I met with hospital leadership to discuss some of the biggest issues facing the Lawrence community, including staffing shortages in the health care industry. We also discussed the importance of supporting programs like 340-B and Medicare Advantage, which provides health care options for Kansas communities while keeping costs down. Thank you, Lawrence Memorial Hospital staff, for having me last week and for all you do to provide quality health care to your neighbors.

Recognizing the University of Kansas School of Business

For 100 years, the University of Kansas School of Business has empowered students to become leaders who positively change and drive innovation in business and society. Last week, I joined Chancellor Girod, state and university leadership, faculty, and alumni to kick off the centennial celebration of the KU School of Business. I am grateful for the contributions that KU School of Business makes to equip and build talent, which makes an extraordinary impact on Kansas, the region, and our country. Congratulations on reaching your centennial year. I look forward to celebrating another 100 years of excellence.

Fighting for Main Street

The Big First is home to more than 20,000 small businesses that provide jobs to more than 80% of employees across our district. I was honored to be recognized as a 2024 National Retail Federation Hero of Main Street, which recognizes elected officials for their consistent support for the U.S. retail industry through legislative action and leadership. Small businesses are the backbone of America's economy, and it is a privilege to advocate for their success as a member of the House Small Business Committee.
