NEW - Arizona Pastors Workshop - Nov 1 AZ Pastors Workshop: Developing Christlike Disagreement This day-long pastors' conference will equip and empower ministry leaders to address the pressing issues of political polarization and cultural division within their congregations. With presentations from John Inazu, Caleb Campbell, and Terri Crist, this conference will foster a unifying and informed approach through workshops, discussions, and presentations. Our sessions will explore pastoral strategies for cultivating understanding, peacemaking, and respectful dialogue among church members, fostering an environment where differing political views and cultural perspectives can coexist harmoniously. Pastors will receive practical tools to guide their congregations toward constructive conversations rather than divisive debates, ensuring that churches remain sanctuaries of Christ-centered unity, truth, and peacemaking. Follow AVC on Instagram   AVC in the Washington Post The Washington Post featured Napp Nazworth and the work of AVC, including the J29 Coalition and Mending Division Academy, earlier this month. From the article: “Because [Trump] opened this can of worms, our mission will still be necessary no matter who wins in November,” said Napp Nazworth, an evangelical political scientist who leads one of the new groups working to combat religious extremism among fellow conservative Christians. He believes focusing on Trump right now would be counterproductive." “This isn’t to downplay how deeply concerning another Trump presidency would be. I do think it’s a tremendous danger, and I’m worried about it. But this a generational project.” Read the Full WaPo Article J29 Coalition - Update on Inaugural J29 Cohort J29 Coalition - Chicago Gathering, Sept 25-27 The J29 Coalition is a network of theologically conservative pastors seeking to disciple the American Evangelical church in kingdom-shaped politics. AVC launched the first J29 Cohort for pastors and ministry leaders to learn how to address and reduce extreme polarization in their communities and disciple their congregations to be more like Jesus in their citizenship practices during a divisive election season. The inaugural J29 Cohort launched in April, and we couldn't be more excited about the learning and connections that have been happening for our initial group of nearly 40 pastors and ministry leaders over the past five months. The J29 Cohort has learned from speakers such as Kaitlyn Schiess, David French, Curtis Chang, Bonnie Kristian, and many others. The J29 Cohort will culminate in an in-person gathering for all cohort participants next month in Chicago. Your generous support of AVC has covered the costs of this entire J29 Cohort experience for these pastors. We couldn't have done this without your financial support. As we look ahead to the rest of 2024 and into 2025, we plan to hold more pastor trainings and gatherings, as well as trainings and seminars for Christian leaders on politics and political polarization. Your continued generosity funds our work. We can't do what we do without your financial support. Could you give a monthly gift today?
