Vote for Exxon in the Corporate Hall of Shame!
|
Dear Friend,
As this searing summer continues to drag on, it is abundantly clear that the climate crisis is happening right now.
But while the climate crisis disproportionately impacts Indigenous communities, Global South communities, and other communities of color, Big Polluters like Exxon that played a role in causing the crisis are raking in billions in profit each year.
For decades, Exxon has poured its resources into climate denialism, all to protect the profits they make from fossil fuels.
And now that the climate crisis can no longer be ignored, they’re increasingly relying on carbon offsets and other dangerous distractions hidden in their “net zero” plans to continue business as usual. They’re even attempting to push these schemes as a so-called “solution” to the climate crisis, instead of actually reducing emissions and transitioning off fossil fuels.
This year, we're nominating Exxon to the Corporate Hall of Shame for continuing to pollute, contaminate, and harm the planet by promoting and investing in dangerous distractions like carbon offsets to delay urgent climate action and evade accountability for its role in fueling the climate crisis. Will you be voting for them?

Don’t let Exxon get away with its deception!
|
|
At least 47 years ago, scientists at Exxon learned that the combustion of fossil fuels would cause global temperatures to rise.1 But instead of sounding the alarm, Exxon’s PR machine invested in a decades-long campaign to undermine climate science and hide the findings of its own scientists. In the meantime, Exxon continued burning fossil fuels and using its political power to stall climate action.
Imagine if we had started addressing the climate crisis when Exxon scientists made their discovery 47 years ago. Better air quality, less intense storms, and significantly fewer climate refugees come to mind. But instead, Exxon’s actions have led us to a time when people and communities around the world are losing their lives, homes, and livelihoods to the impacts of climate change.
To make matters worse, Big Polluters like Exxon are now attempting to position themselves as part of the solution to climate change. But despite Exxon’s promises, they continue to invest in fossil fuels, delay climate action, and obscure real, equitable solutions to address the climate crisis.
Exxon cannot get away with their decades of deception. Vote for them in the Corporate Hall of Shame today!
Onward,
The climate team
