Take Houston in Action (HIA) as an example. In 2022 and 2023, our Bolder Advocacy team provided HIA with vital training on 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, and voter engagement. As Juan Cardoza-Oquendo, HIA’s Director of Policy and Elections has shared, “Everything I know about 501(c)(3) compliance when talking to voters and getting them out to vote comes from Bolder Advocacy. I am not even exaggerating.”
Our work also transformed the Faith in Action Network. Monica Sommerville, their Director of Grants Management and Compliance, told us that because Bolder Advocacy clarified the rules around nonpartisan activities like candidate forums and surveys, their members are now confident in their advocacy efforts.
Jon Rainwater, Executive Director of Peace Action and the Peace Action Education Fund, put it best: “AFJ’s work allows 501(c)(3) organizations not to be intimidated and do good electoral work.”
In this defining moment of this election season, your support is paramount. When you donate to AFJ, you’re igniting a movement – helping us continue to empower organizations, educate advocates, and ensure our courts are accountable, equal, and just.
