Kamala Harris, Tim Walz Accept DNC’s Ceremonial Nomination After Roll Call

New York Post: Delegates at the Democratic National Convention ceremonially voted Tuesday to crown Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s 2024 nominee for president. “I am thrilled to reaffirm Kamala Harris as the nominee,” a DNC spokesman said Tuesday night. Harris is technically already the nominee, having officially received that title on Aug. 6 after a virtual roll call, but Democrats opted to hold a ceremonial procession in a nod to the tradition of voting on the party standard bearer during the convention (New York Post). Axios: Vice President Kamala Harris made a brief video appearance at the DNC from a Milwaukee rally after she officially accepted the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nomination following roll call on Tuesday (Axios). Sky News: Kamala Harris has been officially confirmed as the Democratic presidential nominee. The US Vice President is addressing a campaign rally in Milwaukee with her running mate, Tim Walz (X).

Vast Majority of Democrat, Independent Voters Unaware of Harris’s Radical Positions
NewsBusters: A significant new Media Research Center poll finds that large majorities of registered Democrats and Independents who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 — exactly those who would be expected to support Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s contest — are mostly in the dark about many of the controversial and radical positions Harris has taken. When asked about ten different aspects of Harris’s public record — on issues as varied as her sponsorship of the Green New Deal, abolishing ICE, and eliminating private health insurance — between 71% and 86% of these Democrats and Independents said they either had not heard of Harris’s position or were unsure. When these voters were asked about where they got most of their news about political elections and candidates, by far the top answers were broadcast television (ABC, CBS and NBC) or cable news (such as CNN and MSNBC). This suggests that the knowledge gaps found by our poll reveal a failure of these outlets to report on radical positions once (and perhaps currently) supported by the now-Democratic nominee for President (NewsBusters).

Democrats Support Plan Giving Citizenship to All Illegal Immigrants in Country
Daily Wire: The Democratic Party’s 2024 platform endorses a bill that would create a pathway for illegal immigrants to become “lawful prospective immigrants” who would be issued IDs and Social Security numbers and be able to vote and join the U.S. military. The U.S. Citizenship Act would empower the Homeland Security Secretary to “adjust the status of a lawful prospective immigrant to that of a lawful permanent resident” should an immigrant remain in the country for five years, without absences longer than 180 days. The bill would also allow deported illegals to return if they had lived in the United States for at least three years. “The legal immigration framework was last updated in 1990 and does not reflect the needs of our country in the 21st century,” the “Expanding Legal Immigration & Deterring Illegal Immigration” plank of the DNC platform says. “The U.S. Citizenship Act would permanently increase family-sponsored and employment-based immigration.” The 352-page U.S. Citizenship Act, which has no Republican co-sponsors, essentially creates a pathway by which all 10 million illegal immigrants in the country are allowed to permanently reside here (Daily Wire).

Kamala Harris Backs Out of Fox News Debate
Townhall: During the first night of the Democratic National Convention, former President Donald Trump said he received an update from the Harris campaign about the Fox News debate. The proposed Sept. 4 debate would have been moderated by anchors Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier… Trump has agreed to do a “tele-town hall” with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Sept. 4 instead, with more details to come. Both presidential candidates have agreed to a Sept. 10 debate in Philadelphia hosted by ABC News. Trump also said he’s willing to do another debate on NBC News on Sept. 25. Harris’s campaign, meanwhile, said she’d consider another debate in October (Townhall). Collin Rugg: The Harris campaign appears incredibly worried about putting her and Walz up against Trump and Vance as they only agreed to 2 presidential debates and 1 vice presidential debate (X).

Another Day, Another Tim Walz Lie Exposed
Townhall: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s (D) children were not conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF), the Harris-Walz campaign confirmed this week. This comes after Walz claimed multiple times that he owes his two children to IVF. According to The New York Times, “many have assumed” that Walz and his wife, Gwen, relied on IVF to conceive. This includes several prominent news outlets that reported that the couple used IVF. In April, the Tim Walz for Governor campaign office mailed out a fundraising letter in an envelope that said, “My wife and I used IVF to start a family,” the Times pointed out. However, this is not true. The couple used a different method, intrauterine insemination, or IUI, the Walz-Harris campaign confirmed to the outlet. And, there is a key distinction between IVF treatments and IUI treatments (Townhall). Tom Elliot: In addition to his military career & drunk driving arrest, there’s another topic about which Tim Walz has been lying for political purposes —the conception of his own children. Since IVF treatments entered the news earlier this year, Walz has been repeatedly claiming he & his wife owe their two children to IVF. But today both CNN & the NYT confirm the Walzes did not in fact use IVF (X).

Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) Makes Abhorrent Comment on Rape and JD Vance’s Family: "Make him go through this"
Townhall: Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY), a Harris-Walz campaign surrogate, made some rather shocking and disturbing comments about Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), the running mate for former and potentially future President Donald Trump. His comments even called for a member of Vance’s family to be raped and become pregnant as a result. While speaking with “Morning Joe” on Tuesday morning, Beshear was ranting against pro-life laws to co-host Mika Brzezinski, talking about “what some people have had to go through because of these laws.” “I mean, JD Vance calls pregnancy resulting from rape ‘inconvenient,'” Beshear claimed, going for a line from several years prior that Vance has disputed. Beshear then turned the attention on himself, though, when he added, “Make him go through this” (Townhall). Libs of TikTok: Kentucky Gov Andy Beshear is refusing to apologize after wishing for a member of JD Vance’s family to be raped and says Vance is just trying to be a victim. Evil (X). Trump War Room: The Trump-Vance campaign releases a statement on Kamala surrogate Andy Beshear’s vile comments at DNC (X).

Revised Employment Numbers Shows Record Decline of Up to One Million Jobs
Could be the largest decline in 15 years. Bloomberg: US job growth in the year through March was likely far less robust than initially estimated, which risks fueling concerns that the Federal Reserve is falling further behind the curve to lower interest rates. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co. economists expect the government’s preliminary benchmark revisions on Wednesday to show payrolls growth in the year through March was at least 600,000 weaker than currently estimated — about 50,000 a month. While JPMorgan Chase & Co. forecasters see a decline of about 360,000, Goldman Sachs indicates it could be as large as a million. There are a number of caveats in the preliminary figure, but a downward revision to employment of more than 501,000 would be the largest in 15 years and suggest the labor market has been cooling for longer than originally thought. The final numbers are due early next year (Bloomberg). Katie Pavlich: The “revision” is being blasted by the Trump campaign as a lie and election interference while Vice President Kamala Harris attempts to distance herself from the poor economic policies of the Biden-Harris administration (Townhall). Reporter Sara Eisen: The New York Fed’s July survey of labor market expectations shows expected likelihood of becoming unemployed rose to 4.4% on average, highest in data going back to 2014 (X).

California Moves Forward With Effort to Help Illegal Immigrants Buy Homes
Just the News: The California Senate Appropriations Committee advanced a bill to allow undocumented immigrants to make use of the state’s zero down, no payment home “loan” program, an expansion the legislature says would create “significant cost pressures…” AB 1840, which already passed the Assembly and now faces a floor vote in the Senate, would prevent the state’s California Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program from denying individuals on the basis of their immigration status. This program allows applicants to secure “loans” of up to 20% of the home’s purchase price — or, about what a typical down payment is — with zero down payment on this state loan, and no payments. The state’s “loan” can potentially be repaid to the state when the home is refinanced, sold, or transferred, with the borrower paying back the original loan amount plus 20% of any increase in value on the property. It’s not clear what happens if a family decides to hold on to a home as there are no provisions on how long a property can be held for, which means certain kinds of trusts could potentially allow the loan to not be paid back (Just the News). Center Square: Due to lack of housing production relative to population and demand, California currently ranks 49th in housing units per resident, resulting in high home prices. “Assembly Bill 1840 is an insult to California citizens who are being left behind and priced out of homeownership,” said State Sen. Briah Dahle, R-Bieber, in a statement. “I’m all for helping first-time homebuyers, but give priority to those who are here in our state legally” (Center Square).

Israel Recovers Bodies of Six Hostages in Gaza
CNN: The bodies of six Israeli hostages have been retrieved from Gaza during an overnight military operation in Khan Younis, Israeli authorities said Tuesday, as the latest ceasefire negotiations continue. In a joint announcement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) named them as Yoram Metzger, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Chaim Peri, Nadav Popplewell and Yagev Buchshtab. All but Munder had been announced dead in recent months by the Israeli military (CNN). National Review: There are 109 hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza, according to the current tally. Thirty-six of the hostages are believed to be dead (National Review).

Group of Peaceful Pro-Life Protesters Convicted in Court; Facing Up to 10 Years Behind Bars
Daily Wire: A group of Christian pro-life activists, including an 89-year-old survivor of a communist prison camp in Eastern Europe, face over a decade in prison after they were convicted on Tuesday in a federal trial in Michigan. A jury found Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Joel Curry, Justin Phillips, Cal Zastrow, his daughter Eva Zastrow, and 89-year-old Eva Edl guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the FACE Act. Edl was forced into a camp as a young child by Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito before fleeing to the United States. The seven were prosecuted by the Biden administration, which has been using the conspiracy against rights charge, originally designed for the Klu Klux Klan, to go after pro-life activists. They face over 10 years in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines upon sentencing. The charges stemmed from a peaceful demonstration, which the defendants called a “Rescue,” where the group sat and stood outside of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan, alongside a group of other pro-life activists. Edl and Idoni were convicted on an additional charge for a pro-life protest they attended at the Women’s Health Clinic in Saginaw, Michigan (Daily Wire).
