John, the fight to restore and protect reproductive freedom is taking center stage at the Democratic National Convention.
A group of everyday Americans took the stage to remind us that it is absolutely essential that we work together to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and restore reproductive rights across the country.

Last night, Josh and Amanda Zurawski, a couple from Texas, shared a devastating story on stage. While Amanda was pregnant with their baby girl, Willow, doctors told the couple with 100% certainty that she would not be born alive. Due to Texas’ extreme abortion ban, they had to wait until Amanda was dangerously ill before she could receive standard abortion care — needlessly pushing her to life-threatening sickness. “The fight for reproductive rights isn’t just a woman’s fight. This is about fighting for our families, and as Kamala Harris says, our future.”
Kaitlyn Joshua of Louisiana also shared her story. Eleven weeks into her pregnancy, she began to miscarry. But the standard treatment for miscarriage is the same as for an abortion, and due to Louisiana’s laws that directly resulted from Trump’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, that kind of medical care is banned. She was turned away from two emergency rooms in excruciating pain, with life threatening blood loss. “Our daughters deserve better. America deserves better. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will fight for our freedom and our shared future,” she said on stage.
Hadley Duvall’s story highlighted the importance of reproductive freedom. At age 12, after years of sexual abuse from her stepfather, she received a positive pregnancy test. “I can’t imagine not having a choice, but today that’s the reality for many women and girls across the country because of Donald Trump’s abortion bans,” Duvall said. In Kentucky, her home state, a recent abortion ban only allows the abortion to save a life or prevent disabling injuries. It excludes mental health concerns and doesn’t permit abortion, even in cases of rape or incest — meaning that girls in similar situations today no longer have the options Hadley did.
“Kamala Harris will sign a national law to restore the right to an abortion. She will fight for every woman and every girl.”
These moving, heartbreaking stories make it all the more clear: We can’t go back. A second Donald Trump term would mean losing even more of our rights, and an untold number of lives will be lost to preventable deaths under a nationwide abortion ban.
We must work together to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in order to restore and expand reproductive rights nationwide.
