Health information, no-cost resources, and interactive booths will be featured on August 27 at the Fair.
The first ever Healthy Communities Day at the Evergreen State Fair will bring together health resources and lots of fun on Tuesday, August 27.
Fairgoers are invited to pick up a Healthy Communities Day passport and visit a variety of booths around the Fair that are focused on health and wellness. Along with health-related activities, games, and information booths, there will be some no-cost services including immunizations, blood pressure and blood glucose screening, and assistance signing up for health insurance.
"We're thrilled to partner with the Evergreen State Fair for 'Healthy Communities Day,' an event that highlights local organizations that provide valuable health and wellness services in our community,? said Dr. James Lewis, Health Officer for Snohomish County Health Department. ?This collaboration allows us to reach residents with important resources, encouraging healthy living in a fun and accessible way. Together, we're creating a stronger, healthier Snohomish County, and I?m excited to see the positive impact this day will have on our community."?
Healthy Communities Day activities are included with general gate admission to the fair.?August 27 also is the annual Morning of Dreams, offering a quieter, calmer fair environment from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for people with sensory or other needs who may be overwhelmed by too many crowds, lights, and noises.?The gates open to the general public at 10:30 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Healthy Communities Day will run most of the day, with activity passports and giveaways available while supplies last.?

Highlights to look forward to during Healthy Communities Day include:?
- Direct health services from the Washington State Department of Health Care-a-Van, providing blood pressure screening, blood glucose screening, and no-cost vaccines (including routine back-to-school immunizations for children, teens, and young adults).?
- Assistance enrolling in Apple Health (Medicaid) health insurance from navigators with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.?
- The chance to walk through a giant, inflatable colon and learn about cancer prevention courtesy of Fred Hutch Cancer Center.?
- Finding Mr. Yuk stickers and information from the Washington Poison Center.?
- Lead testing of household items such as antique or imported cookware, jewelry, and toys from the County Health Department?s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.?
- Spinning the Wheel of Germs with a health educator and answering some germ-y trivia ? don?t forget to wash your hands after!?
