This afternoon, Donald Trump and our opponent, Mike Rogers, campaigned in my district, in Howell, Michigan. Right now, Americans are desperate for leaders who will bring us together around a hopeful vision of the future. But Trump didn’t come here to bring people together, call out hateful behavior, or offer any kind of hopeful vision for our country.

Instead, he spent his time here lying about the deadliness of the January 6th insurrection, implying that outside police forces should patrol the city of Detroit during the election this year, peddling lies about union workers, and repeatedly attacking Kamala Harris.

This won’t be the last time we see Donald Trump here in Michigan, spewing lies about our state and its people.

Because Trump knows what we know: He can’t win the White House – and Republicans can’t flip the Senate – without winning Michigan. And the better I do in my race, the better Kamala Harris likely does in the state as well.

Trump’s visit is further indication that Republicans are gearing up to throw everything they can at Michigan, and that Michigan Democrats can’t take anything for granted.

No matter what anyone may tell you, Michigan is a swing state – full stop. The latest polls show our state is virtually tied — for both the presidential and the Senate race. And political forecasters have said Michigan is a pure toss up.

The only thing we know for certain is that this race will come down to the wire and could go either way on Election Day.

Because just as we have swung toward Democrats, Michigan is known for swinging right back.

We can't let that happen. Want to help? Chip in what you can and help send a message that Michigan is sure as hell not ready to swing back to Trump.
