Harris was the most progressive member of the Senate during her tenure and campaigned for president in 2020 on the promise of a government takeover of the health insurance system. That same year, Walz signed a bill ([link removed]) to cap insulin costs. Last year, he created a state-run board ([link removed]) with the power to cap drug prices.

We can expect a Harris-Walz administration, if elected, to take steps to bring America’s biopharmaceutical industry under further government control.

The federal government has announced the long-awaited results from the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) drug price negotiations. The Biden Administration has sold out patients and the hope for future cures to achieve results that pale in comparison to the benefits enabled by efficient market competition.

Nearly eight in 10 Americans worry “a great deal” or “a fair amount” about the availability and affordability of health care, according to polling from Gallup.

So it’s surprising that the Republican Party’s platform this year doesn’t devote much space to the topic. It’s even largely silent on the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous policies — from restricting short-term health plans, to placing price controls on prescription drugs, to providing overly generous premium subsidies for coverage through Obamacare’s exchanges.
