This Month, Social Security turned 89. For 89 years, Social Security has been a sacred promise that seniors deserve to retire with dignity. Unfortunately, while I’m working with my Democratic colleagues to strengthen Social Security, Republicans recently released a 2025 budget that would raise the retirement age and cut benefits. According to an analysis by the House Budget Committee minority, Republican proposals would cut benefits for 257 million Americans, including more than 620,000 people in our district alone.  

Do you think House Republicans should pass a 2025 budget that cuts taxes for billionaires and wealthy corporations while ripping away Social Security benefits?

As your member of Congress, I will always fight to protect your hard-earned benefits. Social Security is a sacred promise that keeps tens of millions of seniors out of poverty. American workers have paid into Social Security with every paycheck, and they deserve to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work.

Every person in Illinois deserves the Social Security benefits they’ve earned, and for those benefits to adequately meet their needs. Today and every day, that’s what I’m fighting for.
