Welcome to the August 2024 edition of Reality Now.

In 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act launched a massive clean energy plan designed to create jobs and help families save money with clean technologies.

Two years on, it’s already a massive win.

Since 2022, companies have announced or begun a staggering 646 projects, bringing 334,565 jobs and $372 billion in investments to 47 states and Puerto Rico. 

The plan also offers households and businesses a range of pretty significant incentives, offering up to $7,500 off electric vehicles and 30% off the cost of installing solar panels or heat pumps. The plan has helped 3.4 million households save $8 billion switching to clean energy and improving energy efficiency, and has resulted in 750,000 new home solar systems. 

There’s a long way to go – but this is real progress and cause for hope.

STOP PLASTIC-BURNING FACILITIES FROM HARMING FRONTLINE COMMUNITIES AND OUR ENVIRONMENT

Demand that EPA Administrator Michael Regan and your regional EPA directors stop plastic-burning facilities from harming frontline communities and our environment.

TELL ENI IT’S TIME TO END FOSSIL FUEL EXPANSION

Send a message to urge Eni, Italy’s largest oil and gas company, to stop plans to expand fossil fuel operations in 16 countries.

TELL THE EXPORT-IMPORT BANK: NO FOSSIL FUEL PROJECTS

Write to the leadership of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, an export credit agency, and urge them to stop the public financing of fossil fuels.
