Good afternoon,
Last night, President Biden kicked off the Democratic National Convention in Chicago by highlighting the achievements of his administration and energetically endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee. The president's speech was uplifting as he reflected on his presidency and legacy by sharing 'It's been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your president. I love the job, but I love my country more.' This passing of the torch marks a major shift for the Democratic Party.
After Biden's emotional farewell speech, Democrats rallied behind the Vice President and focused on the future of America with a large emphasis on abortion rights.
Here are a few highlights from President Biden's time in office...
BIDEN'S INVESTMENT IN OUR FUTURE
During night one of the DNC, President Biden delivered uplifting remarks focused on the future of the United States. Today, we want to reflect on his political footprint in our country as the Democratic Party heads into a new era.
While Republicans have bashed the president for inflation, economists have countered this, declaring it an 'overstatement of his role in the price spike.' Instead, Biden has implemented several vital policies and has made groundbreaking investments in order to strengthen our country for the long haul.
Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law a little over two years ago, creating the largest investment in clean energy in our country's history. Aside from making headway in cutting climate pollution as well as Americans' fuel and utility bills, the bill also consisted of provisions to lower Medicare prescription drug prices. The IRA is projected to result in large savings starting in 2028. It's about time Republicans reeled in their inflated accusations rather than inflating false messages.
BIDEN FOR RURAL AND WORKING-CLASS AMERICA
The Biden-Harris Administration has not forgotten about rural or working-class America. In fact, the administration announced over $671 million in new investments to strengthen rural infrastructure across the U.S. Additionally, the monumental Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invested billions to rebuilding and strengthening rural communities, representing the largest investment in Tribal infrastructure ever.
Under President Biden, we've also seen the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act aimed at boosting U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and innovation in addition to workforce development invigoration. On top of being considered our country's most significant innovation bill in recent times, the law focuses on higher level STEM education and training skilled technical workers without bachelor's degrees.
LOOKING AHEAD
Tonight, former President Obama and second gentleman Doug Emhoff will kick off the second night of the DNC, speaking on the theme of 'A Bold Vision for America's Future.' Tomorrow, we will hear from vice presidential nominee Tim Walz as he delivers his acceptance speech.
