John, the Democratic National Convention is underway and I know what I want to hear from our politicians: The gun violence epidemic is the most pressing issue in this election, and ALL our candidates, up and down the ballot, MUST address gun safety as part of their campaign.
President Biden said it best in his powerful address last night: “If we care about public safety, we need to prevent gun violence.”
Biden has worked to do that during his presidency, having passed the first major bipartisan gun safety law in 30 years, and I want to know that our elected officials are going to continue that legacy of action and actually DO something about the rampant gun violence plaguing our country.
Right now, all eyes are on Chicago as thousands of Democrats are gathered for the convention. Will you add your name to Brady's petition calling on Congress to stand up to the gun lobby and take urgent action to address the gun violence epidemic and pass the legislation we KNOW will save lives?

I'm in this fight for the same reason so many people come to the gun safety movement: because in just six minutes, my life was forever changed by gun violence.
When my daughter was gunned down in the halls of her school in Parkland with an AR-15-style semiautomatic weapon, I knew that there was nothing that could bring her back.
But I also knew that I could fight with everything I have so that no more of our children are killed with weapons of war, and that's what I've done.
Since 2018, we've seen some progress — in 2022, Congress passed the first meaningful gun safety legislation in 30 years — but it's not enough. There is so much more action that is needed, from banning assault weapons to universal background checks and more, in order to finally end gun violence in America.
And, John, the reality is that unless we take action, Congress is going to continue to be stalled by politicians who are squarely in the pockets of the gun lobby.
Please, join me in sending a message to the DNC by adding your name to Brady's petition and calling on Congress to take urgent action to address the gun violence epidemic:
