Hi John,
It’s the most wonderful time of year – back to school!

Understandably so, most parents are breathing a sigh of relief as their children prepare to return to the classroom. But these days in August always transport me back to the era of my life when my sons were in school.
When my boys were young, my husband and I were both working full-time. As soon as I got off the night shift from the Chapel Hill Police Department at 7am, I would go straight to my sons’ classrooms to volunteer.
Not only did this serve as an opportunity for me to spend more precious time with my children, but it opened my eyes to the social disparities affecting students firsthand, especially Black and brown kids, in the classroom.
This launched my career in public service, John. When I could do nothing more as a volunteer, I ran for School Board. And as the story goes, I ended up here, in Congress. Now, I’m running for re-election to ensure every child has a voice advocating for their education, and building the future they deserve. Can you help defend my seat by pitching in $ today? Back to school should be an exciting time where our children are eager to make new friends, expand their horizons, and learn without boundaries.
This time of year should not be clouded with anxiety about budget cuts, inadequate supplies, or if our children are in danger while at school. Our children deserve to return to school this year feeling safe, prepared, and excited to learn.
The opportunity to learn is not only a blessing but a fundamental right — and every single child deserves equal access to a quality education. That’s why I’m in Congress fighting for public education day in and day out. Defending my seat means defending our children’s future, John. Can I count on you to make a donation of any amount to my re-election campaign today? [[link removed]]
