RE: KEY FINDINGS - MARYLAND CD 6 GENERAL ELECTION SURVEY
DATE: AUGUST 20, 2024
Methodology
On behalf of Parrott for Congress and the NRCC, Public Opinion Strategies conducted 400
interviews among likely voters in Maryland Congressional District 6, with 83% of interviews
completed via cell phone and 17% completed via landline. The survey was completed August 6-
11, 2024, and has a margin of error of +4.9% in 95 out of 100 cases.
Key Findings
1. The political environment in Maryland CD 6 currently favors Republicans.
Nearly two-thirds (65%) of voters say the country is off on the wrong track, including
majorities of Independents (68%) and soft Democrats (59%).
President Biden’s approval rating is underwater. Fully 54% of voters disapprove of
Biden, with 46% saying they strongly disapprove of him.
The generic Congressional ballot also shows that this district is more in play than it has
been in previous cycles, with 43% of voters backing a generic Republican candidate, and
44% backing the generic Democrat.
2. The congressional race is a tossup.
With just under three months until the election, Maryland CD 6 is as tight as it can be.
Neil Parrott checks in with 40% of the vote and April Delaney at 42%. Potential third
party candidates received 4% of the vote, and 13% of voters are undecided.
Encouragingly, the undecided voters disapprove of Biden (62%) and prefer a Republican
candidate who will be a check and balance to Democrats in Washington (45%) over a
Democratic candidate who will help Democrats pass their agenda (37%).
This suggests these voters will be open to voting for Parrott as they learn more about
him during the course of the campaign.
3. Parrott also has the advantage among voters most interested in voting in the November election.
Among voters who rate their interest a 10 (very high) in voting come November, Neil
Parrott leads 45% to 42%. This is yet another reason for Republicans to be optimistic
about this race.
The Bottom Line
Neil Parrott is running a strong campaign and has a real chance to flip this seat from blue to red.
