Dear,

It’s not just that Katie Porter single-handedly secured free testing for
the coronavirus, or exposed Trump’s gross negligence in the face of the
public health crisis.

Katie is a single mom who’s been quarantining with her three children --
homeschooling and parenting her kids while working for her constituents in
the middle of a global pandemic.(1)

Congress needs dozens more Katie Porters, whip-smart fighters for justice
who know what it’s like to raise a family and earn a living as a single
mother.

But Katie’s reelection is far from certain. She’s a first-year member of
Congress representing a Republican-leaning district, and the GOP has made
her their number-one target. It’s critical that we have her back this
November.

Katie has been fighting the pandemic from the get-go. She single-handedly
ensured that coronavirus tests would be free with her persistent
questioning of CDC head Robert Redfield at a congressional hearing.(2)

She exposed how Trump helped corporations make a quick buck on the public
health crisis, sending critically important medical supplies overseas when
he should have been preparing for the pandemic to hit the United
States.(3)

She did most of this while quarantining at home with her three kids, after
she experienced symptoms that are consistent with the coronavirus.
Luckily, she ended up testing negative.(4)

And even though 1 in 5 children across the United States is raised by a
single mother, Katie is the only single mom in Congress.(5)

Her experience helps her fight harder for progressive causes, from equal
pay to making ends meet in times of economic crisis. But she’s running for
reelection in a GOP-leaning district, and Republicans will flood her race
with tens of millions of dollars to back her opponent.

That’s why Courage California is planning a major effort to make sure that
Katie wins. Using our voter guide and a state-of-the-art text-messaging
program, we're going to make certain that everyone in her district knows
all the ways Katie has been fighting for people just like them, day in and
day out.
