John,
Several months ago, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a new energy efficiency standard for new home construction. It’s yet another Biden administration mandate that will hit families in Indiana and across America where it hurts the most.
Buying a home is already more expensive than ever – and this mandate could add up to $31,000 to the price of a new home!
I’ve written you previously regarding my plans to work with entrepreneurial builders to find ways to address our home affordability crisis here in Indiana, and I recently rolled out my Freedom and Opportunity Property Tax Relief Plan.
Earlier this month, I introduced the HOUSE Act in the U.S. Senate to fully repeal this new Biden administration energy efficiency mandate to lower the cost of housing.
I’m grateful to have a number of other members standing with me as cosponsors, and I’m doing all I can to garner enough support to get this legislation passed in the Senate ASAP.
Housing affordability will be among my top priorities as the next Governor of Indiana. Our state is now ranked the 34th least affordable in the country, and the pain is being felt in all 92 Indiana counties.
Thank you, as always, for being part of our grassroots team. We’re ramping up to win big on November 5th and I’m grateful to have you on board.
