"You know, he said we’re weird," Trump told a small crowd in York, Pennsylvania, on Monday during an event that was supposed to focus on the economy. "That JD and I are weird. I think we’re extremely normal people." Yep. Extremely normal. Like when Trump refers to himself in the third person; or lavishes praise on "the late, great Hannibal Lecter;" or does the definitely-not-weird accordion thing with his hands. Or incites an insurrection because he can't stand losing; or rips off contractors, employees, investors, and everyday Americans to the tune of hundreds or millions of dollars; or sexually assaults women and brags about it; or plates everything in his home in gold. All extremely normal stuff, people. Bigly normal, even.

Conservative judge endorses Harris and slams Trump as threat to democracy
J. Michael Luttig, a prominent former appeals court judge and conservative legal scholar appointed to the federal bench by George H.W. Bush, forcefully endorsed Kamala Harris for president and excoriated the Republican Party for fecklessly falling in line (yet again) behind a serial fraudster and convicted felon. Luttig described Donald Trump’s support for the January 6 rioters and continued lies about winning the 2020 election as a stake being “driven through the heart of America’s Democracy" and declared that, despite holding policy views “vastly different” from his own, Kamala Harris is the only choice he could accept for the upcoming election. Luttig joins a long and growing list of disaffected Republicans who've steadfastly refused to back their party's unconscionable nominee, including Mesa, Arizona Mayor John Giles, who implored his fellow disillusioned GOPers during a recent Harris-Walz rally to support the Democratic ticket. "I have something to say to those of us who are in the middle," Giles said. "You don't owe a damn thing to that political party."

George Santos pleads guilty to multiple federal fraud counts
Former Republican congressman and serial fabulist George Santos pleaded guilty to committing wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in federal court, marking yet another low point for the con artist singularly defined by the outlandish lies and ridiculous fantasies he incessantly peddled during his incredibly brief time in office. Santos faces a minimum of two years in prison, but US District Judge Joanna Seybert estimated a possible sentencing range between six and eight years when the 36-year-old swindler returns to court again in February. RFK Jr.’s campaign is rapidly running out of cash
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s embarrassing, futile bid for the presidency is on figurative life support, as POLITICO reported the noted anti-vaxxer and roadkill collector is hemorrhaging cash faster than he can raise it. Kennedy reported just $3.9 million in its coffers at the end of July — while having racked up nearly $3.5 million in debt. And while the campaign spent more than $7 million last month, it only raised $5.6 million, nearly half of which came directly out of the pocket of a single person — Kennedy’s running mate, the Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan. Maybe this explains the conspiracy theorist's craven attempt in recent weeks to trade his utterly meaningless endorsement for a Cabinet post in either major party candidate's administration?
