The 2024 Democratic National Convention begins today here in my home state of Illinois, and I could not be prouder to welcome folks from all over the country as we showcase the historic progress Democrats have made and outline the work we have ahead of us delivering results for working families nationwide.

Twelve years ago, while running for the House of Representatives in Illinois's 8th district, I had the honor of addressing the DNC in North Carolina.

I told the story of how, on November 12th, 2004, my Black Hawk helicopter was shot down north of Baghdad as a result of enemy fire. I described how we were hit by a rocket-propelled grenade that exploded in my lap, ripping off one leg, crushing the other and tearing my right arm apart, and how I kept trying to fly until I passed out.

In that moment, my survival and the survival of my entire crew depended on all of us pulling together. And it was my buddies’ bravery, fast action and refusal to leave a fallen comrade—me—behind, that is the reason I'm alive today.

As we start this year's convention, I'm reminded that that kind of camaraderie, selflessness and dedication is what this election is all about.

It's about issues that matter to all of us: building an economy that will create more jobs, supporting our Veterans, defending our rights from those who wish to take them away, protecting the environment and so much more.

But it's also about the fundamental question of whether we'll live up to the kind of ideals that have made America so great, and so good, for so long: looking out for the hardest hit, pulling through for them in their time of need and refusing to give up, no matter the odds.

I'm speaking tomorrow night at the DNC where I'll help outline Democrats’ vision for the country I know we can become. And in the months ahead, I'm committed to doing everything I can to defend our Senate majority, defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA movement and move forward together to make that vision a reality.

That's why I'm asking:

Can you make a contribution to my campaign—of any amount you can—before I take the stage tomorrow night at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago? Your support will go directly toward defending our Senate majority in November and continuing to build on all the progress we've made together.

Thank you for reading, team. And thank you for anything you're able to chip in today.

All my best,

Tammy Duckworth
