Hi there— the Democratic National Convention starts today in Chicago, where Democrats will officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris for president and confirm Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
Over the next four days, Democratic lawmakers will adopt a unified platform, including their plans for immigration reform. It won’t come as a surprise that the speakers, speeches, and events will starkly differ from the Republican National Convention held last month.
The contrast between the Democratic and the Republican vision for our future is stark. Republicans have already pulled reproductive rights back 50 years and have plans to go even further on a whole range of other issues. Democrats have a vision for the future focused on building a more inclusive, equitable society where everyone’s rights are respected and protected.
With VP Harris and Gov. Walz leading the Democratic ticket, we’re energized and ready to elect leaders who will guide our country with a positive vision, empathy, and a commitment to creating a humane 21st century immigration system that centers our immigrant communities.
And we’re ready to hold them accountable to our vision for justice for every immigrant in this country. All this is within our reach — only if we work together. This fight requires everyone’s support to ensure that our values and democracy prevail on November 5.
You, team, are essential to this election. Your support helps us mobilize voters, spread our message of hope and inclusion, and counter the harmful anti-immigrant agenda from the other side. Together, we can elect leaders who reflect the best of America and stand strong against division and hate.
Friend, will you join our fight and split a contribution between NILC-IJF and the Harris-Walz campaign today? Your gift funds our efforts to secure a future where all people, regardless of their background, are treated with dignity and respect.
Thank you for fighting alongside us. Together, we can win.
