Separating children from their parents. Locking people in cages. Denying them access to basic hygiene products. There’s a full-blown crisis happening at our border.

Not only is it completely immoral, it’s inhumane.

Now, Donald Trump is threatening ICE raids across the country, including the Chicagoland area. It shouldn’t surprise me, but I can’t get over the fact that Dan Lipinski hasn’t said a single word about any of this.

He’s said absolutely nothing about the ICE raids and zero on the dehumanizing treatment of immigrants at our border. Our country is in the midst of a moral crisis, and he’s been completely silent on it -- that’s because Dan Lipinski stands with Trump on immigration issues. He just doesn’t want anyone in his district to find out about it.

I want you to know that I will speak out and fight to the bitter end to stop this type of immoral behavior. But this can’t wait for me to defeat Dan Lipinski and take office in 2021. Families in our communities need resources right now to be prepared for these raids, so I wanted to highlight a few:

Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights: ICIRR is an organization dedicated to promoting the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society.
Latino Organization of the Southwest: This organization, located in Westlawn, hosts “Legal Nights,” where immigrants can meet with lawyers and access legal services.
Catholic Charities Immigration/Naturalization Services: The Catholic Charities Legal Assistance program through Catholic Charities provides legal services, such as a telephone advice line, in-person consultations, and legal representation.

Share those resources far and wide. Make sure everyone knows their rights.
