Capitol
Dear John,
Women with heart disease, along with many others with chronic health
conditions, are at greater risk of serious illness if they become
infected with COVID-19. This leaves many women with an impossible
choice - risk their physical health if they go to work or risk their
economic health if they stay home. No one should have to make that
decision.
That's why WomenHeart sent a letter to lawmakers - signed by more than
100 other organizations - to ask that Congress include better paid
leave policies for those with health conditions that put them at
greater risk if they are infected with COVID-19. And now you can take
action too.
Tell Congress to expand emergency FMLA
[link removed]
When Congress passed expanded emergency use of the Family and Medical
Leave Act in March, only people with childcare needs and parents of
adults with disabilities impacted by the pandemic were made eligible
for paid family and medical leave. As Congress develops its next
legislative response to COVID-19, it's critical that they ensure
people with underlying health conditions like heart disease receive
job protection and financial support that enables them to remain at
home until it is safe.
Make your voice heard

by telling Congress to protect women with heart disease.
Together, we're saving lives.
