Tomorrow is a big day for the clean-water cause, so get out there and Vote Water!
In Miami-Dade County, that means voting for incumbent Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and challenger Cindy Lerner in the race for the County Commission District 7 seat.
As noted in our endorsement, both prioritize clean water in a county where development pressure might otherwise go unchecked — with disastrous consequences for the region’s waterways and the nearby Everglades.
VoteWater will be issuing additional endorsements prior to the Nov. 5 general election.
If you want to check how much money your local politicians are getting from special interests — a good barometer of how they’ll govern — we make it easy for you here (and our upcoming “Dirty Money Project” will make it even easier).
Want to know who's getting Big Sugar money this election cycle? We've got the list.
Here’s a closer look at how development money sways races in Martin County (and most likely your south Florida community too).
And here’s a look at how “ghost candidates” can close a primary and disenfranchise tens or even hundreds of thousands.
Bottom line, the clean-water cause always faces challenges at the ballot box. That’s why it’s so important that clean-water fans like you vote in this election, and every election.
Polling places are open Tuesday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; all mail-in ballots must be received by your local supervisor of elections by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Vote as if the future of clean water relies on it. Because it does.
