Welcome to Chicago! The Democratic National Convention has officially kicked off in our state, and I want to talk to you about why it matters for our mission.

While we are rallying together as a party and unifying around Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, this convention has another essential purpose: to build grassroots power and empower Democratic candidates in all levels of elections– not just the Presidential.

The truth is, we know that Illinois will go blue for Harris and Walz – but that doesn’t mean that all of our targeted countywide races will automatically do the same. For county level and less-publicized races that we work on, we often have to work a lot harder with fewer resources in order to win.

Let me be frank: Your dollars go a lot further in county races. These races are won or lost by a couple hundred votes, and your contribution makes it directly possible for county-level candidates to get out the vote, mobilize voters, and win.
