Hi John,
OLCV is delighted to announce that Paige Spence has been elected the next chair of OLCV's board of directors. Paige has been part of OLCV for many years — first on staff as Coalition Director and then as a board member since December of 2019. Her combination of political savvy, experience in the Oregon Capitol, understanding of OLCV from the inside, and connections to partner organizations make her an ideal chair.
“I am humbled and honored to be OLCV's newly elected Board of Directors Chair,” said Paige. After moving to Oregon ten years ago, she fell in love with Oregon’s natural beauty. “As we all know, we must be stewards of ensuring the place we love is as beautiful and healthy for the next generations. Drought, water scarcity, wildfire, and other threats require us to engage in policy decisions to address them.” Throughout her years of involvement with OLCV, Paige states: “I know first-hand that the advocacy OLCV does every day is challenging – but well worth it. I look forward to working with you all to advance legislation and apply political pressure to keep Oregon healthy!”
Paige is succeeding Jules Bailey, who is concluding his board service. "It has been an absolute honor and pleasure to chair the OLCV board for the last 5 years," said Jules. "When I took the position in 2019, none of us knew that a pandemic would upend all our lives and change the political landscape. But OLCV, because of the dedication and hard work of the staff and volunteers not only made it through COVID, but in many ways came out stronger. We now have an incredible new executive director in Lindsey Scholten, ready to power the organization forward for the next chapter by harnessing the power of OLCV's grassroots network to keep a pro-environment majority in Oregon. I'm delighted that Paige Spence has stepped forward to lead OLCV's board as we do so. Her vision and leadership are just what the OLCV board needs."
OLCV is grateful to Jules for his many years of service, and we look forward to moving forward with Paige to begin a new chapter!
Sincerely,
Lindsey Scholten
OLCV Executive Director
