It was so exciting to walk the property and peek inside one of the homes. Allium Place is a strong partnership with mission-aligned Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland. The finished community will include 27 homeownership condos and houses and 168 affordable rental apartments. Shout out to Harkins Builders for working on this important project. Resident Services also shared local support resources. In Case You Missed It Paul Bernard, AHC President & CEO, spoke with Multi-Housing News about the importance of prioritizing affordability and health services in senior housing. We hosted the first Toolbox Talk webinar on the redevelopment process and financing for The Terraces at Arlington View, an AHC community in Arlington. Paul participated in an important conversation with the Washington Business Journal and local changemakers about how to address housing concerns in our area. Susan Davidson, Vice President of Resident Services, spoke with Mental Health TV about how service-enriched affordable housing positively affects residents’ mental health. WUSA9 featured volunteer Aliyah Majeed-Hall and her One Word Reading Initiative that’s helping AHC’s young residents build at-home libraries. NEWS NUGGETS Summer Fun Comes to an End AHC Summer Camp was a blast! The kids learned a lot about bugs and all things wild with the “Where the Wild Things Are” theme. They grew their literacy and math skills, fostered friendships with fellow campers, went on exciting field trips, and had so much fun! Check out this video for a look at all the adventures. Teens celebrated all the fun they had in the College & Career Readiness Bootcamp with a meal at Buffalo Wild Wings and bowling and arcade games at Bowlero.
