Congress and the President must still do much more to help struggling families and state and local governments amid the COVID-19 pandemic — and they must act soon.
We understand that Democratic leaders and House committee chairs are working now to develop their policy priorities for the next coronavirus relief package, in preparation for eventual bipartisan negotiations.
That means now is the time for national, state, and local advocates to share our priorities for the next comprehensive COVID-19 bill in the media and with members of Congress.
To learn more about what’s needed in the next federal COVID-19 bill and how you can help build support for these issue priorities, please join the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities for a webinar this week.
What: Webinar on priorities for future COVID-19 federal legislation and what you can do Who: Any state and local advocate who wants to learn more and engage on these issues When: Thursday, April 30, from 1-2 p.m. Eastern
On this webinar, CBPP experts will talk about overarching priorities such as ensuring that key relief measures last for the length of the economic downturn and critical issue-specific priorities such as providing more flexible state and local fiscal relief and increasing food assistance benefits and health coverage options.
We’ll also share suggestions of how to pull everything together into a multi-issue, compelling message and the highest-impact actions that state and local advocates can take right now, given the expected timetable for future COVID-19 federal legislation and where things stand now..
This webinar is open to any advocate interested in learning more about and engaging on federal COVID-19 priorities, but it is geared specifically toward state-based and local advocates. Please feel free to forward this invitation to your state coalition partners and allies!
Please note: The webinar is off the record and not open to members of the media or legislative staff.
