Friend — The Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago today.
This is a big opportunity to show the galvanized grassroots movement to defend our democracy and defeat Trump and his authoritarian ambitions this November.
We’ve seen incredible progress under the Biden-Harris administration, from making historic climate and clean energy investments to lowering prescription drug prices and much more.
Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are our chance to continue to build on that progress and keep up the fight for justice for all. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is ready to be a dictator “on day one.”
And make no mistake, this isn’t just talk. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled recently that the president can’t be held legally accountable for crimes committed while in office. Put that kind of power alongside the GOP’s far-reaching Project 2025, and it’s easy to see how Trump plans to take our nation down a very dark, hateful road.
So while Democrats come together this week to make the Harris-Walz ticket official, it’s important to keep in mind that we aren’t just building a movement to elect more Democrats.
We are building an intersectional, intergenerational movement of people who share the belief that American democracy is worth protecting from the MAGA far-right.
And building that movement is going to take support from regular folks like you, chipping in what they can when they can.
