With millions of children and families trapped in modern slavery around the world, humanitarianism has never been more needed. That's why, as we celebrate World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate those who give so much of themselves to help reduce the suffering of others.
Can we celebrate you? Give today and join other humanitarians in our shared fight for freedom, like Rwenzori Empowered Women, an IJM Global Survivor Network (GSN) chapter in Uganda. |

Rwenzori Empowered Women started in May 2022, when IJM reached out to women survivors of violence and child sexual abuse who were already in a self-led support group. After learning about the GSN, its purpose and objectives, and how this can contribute to safe communities, many of the survivors decided to join the GSN and start a local chapter.
The chapter covers five sub-countries in the Kasese district where violence against women and children is most prevalent. Thanks to the support of friends like you, IJM now provides the group with tailored training and mentorship through initiatives like raising awareness of violence in at-risk communities, improving services for women and girls, and more.
Rwenzori Empowered Women are committed to working toward a justice system that puts an end to violence. |
