I’m headed to Chicago to attend the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

But I bet you didn’t know I’ve attended the convention before:

Back in 2008, when I was a commanding officer, I attended and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in support of Barack Obama.

What I said then about the 2008 election still rings true to this year’s election: This election is not about history, it’s about seizing history and forging a proper course for our country.

We’ve seen the consequences of a Donald Trump presidency and the mockery he has made of our democracy.

We cannot allow a Trump presidency to happen again. We need a commander-in-chief who will protect our freedoms and democracy and bring forth the progress we need to realize the full potential of this country.

When I took my oath of office to defend and protect the United States, I didn’t swear to protect a select few — I swore to protect ALL Americans. If we elect Kamala Harris as our next President, I know she will work to uplift all of our families and neighbors because she will put country over party. It’s how we move our country forward, and it’s how we move Maryland forward.

I am eager to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Before I head to Chicago, please make a contribution to support the work I’m doing in Maryland to move progress forward and lead the way for the rest of the country to follow.
