Lesko Leads Letter to World Anti-Doping Agency
This week, I led a letter to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to address transparency issues and their handling of doping allegations. While the United States, and nearly every other country, are held to the highest standard of integrity in sports, China has repeatedly violated international doping rules thus risking the integrity of sports at a global scale. During the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, 23 Chinese swimmers tested positive for banned substances, in 2022 two additional swimmers tested positive. One of these swimmers just competed for China at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Rather than take accountability, China has instead blamed the test results on contaminated food in the hopes of avoiding consequence. Until WADA begins to hold China accountable to the same standards as the rest of the world. U.S. taxpayers should not be responsible for financially supporting them as an organization.
