It feels like the Supreme Court is always in the news, team. That’s in large part because their rulings have a major impact on how the government can regulate corporations.

When it comes to the climate crisis, the Supreme Court has taken some pretty serious leaps to roll back government oversight. In 2022, it limited the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to curb emissions at power plants -- effectively stripping the agency of its role in protecting our air quality.

The last few years have been all about power grabs. The Supreme Court has made major moves showcasing an anti-regulation, pro-corporation bend on the bench.

The Court’s latest attempt to weaken government agencies came as recently as June with its ruling in the Chevron case. Now, instead of allowing scientists and experts at agencies like the EPA to decide how to enforce and regulate rules, federal judges will get the final say -- marking a huge shift in power.

It’s more clear than ever that the Supreme Court is making major power grabs that side with fossil fuel companies instead of with the American people.
