When Pete launched his campaign for president, he wrote out ten "Rules of the Road": respect, belonging, truth, teamwork, boldness, responsibility, substance, discipline, excellence, and joy. 

"Amid the great challenge we face, let us be joyful," he wrote.

"We are privileged to be doing this work and we are assembling a team of wonderful human beings. Along the way, we will all get many opportunities to lift one another up and lift up those we encounter. 

"America itself is one of the greatest experiments in the history of our world. It will shape us, but we can shape it too. Let us shape it, partly, by spreading the joy of working for our beliefs."

We have seen so much joy in our politics over the past few weeks. Historic crowds have shown up to see Kamala Harris and Tim Walz speak at rallies. Volunteers have hosted their own grassroots support calls with thousands of attendees, some even crashing Zoom. Hundreds of thousands of donors – many of them new! – have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the Harris-Walz campaign. 

And more than that, we have seen how that joy is shaping our nation’s future. We are turning this joy into momentum; we are building this excitement into a united, winning team of voices, ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on November 5. 

This joy is how we win. 

We still face a great challenge. Donald Trump, JD Vance, and the far-right extremists running the Republican Party threaten to strip away decades of progress, taking us back to a time with fewer rights for women, barbaric policies, and hate, division, and chaos. 

But we are choosing hope and joy. We must continue to do everything we can to continue to move our nation forward. From now until November 5, that means talking to our friends and family, volunteering for campaigns, and donating (you can chip in a few dollars here!). 

We are grateful for the work you’'ve done and will continue to do.
