John, please allow me a moment to describe what is happening right now in the key states for the White House and Senate majority, and why your support for my campaign today is so important.

As we speak, volunteers and organizers are gathering pens and clipboards or loading virtual door-knocking lists on their cell phones with bags full of campaign materials to go have face-to-face conversations with potential Democratic voters.

These grassroots campaign efforts can swing the outcome of an election by even a few percentage points — and seven key states had a margin of victory less than 3% in 2020.

I show up to these campaign offices and canvass launches to inspire more volunteers to join us because of the outsized impact volunteer turnout has.

Even getting one or two dozen additional volunteers on a Saturday morning can equal hundreds or even thousands of additional conversations between these new volunteers and the voters we need to turn out.

That is how I won my campaign for mayor of Newark. It’s why my team and I have repeatedly stressed the importance of reaching our campaign fundraising goals. No matter what office it is for, from mayor to Senate to the presidency, grassroots campaigning and face-to-face conversations matter.
