We’ll never forget the impact of the testing of the first nuclear bomb right here in New Mexico — but MAGA Republicans like Yvette Herrell’s number one supporter, Speaker Mike Johnson, refuse to recognize the real consequences these events have had on New Mexicans.

Our communities deserve justice, not empty words. Community leaders know I’ll always stand up for RECA while Yvette Herrell won’t.

The refusal to support a reauthorization and expansion of RECA for BOTH uranium miners and downwinders is not a failure of government but a deliberate disregard for the suffering of New Mexicans in this district for generations.

That’s why, time and time again, I’ve demanded that House Republicans and Speaker Mike Johnson pass legislation expanding benefits to New Mexico.

John, it’s up to us to fight for everyday New Mexicans in Congress — because MAGA extremists are happy to leave us behind.
