This ruling not only impacts ongoing legal cases related to Trump's efforts to
overturn the 2020 election but threatens the very foundation of our democracy
by suggesting that a president can act without accountability, setting a
dangerous precedent that puts the rule of law at risk.



The idea that a president could act without consequence threatens the very
core of our republic. Congress has both the obligation and constitutional
authority to correct this ruling–we do not crown kings in our democracy.



Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has introduced the No Kings Act

, legislation that would reverse the Supreme Court’s ruling. It seeks to assert
that Congress, not the Supreme Court, holds the authority to determine the
applicability of federal criminal laws to presidents and vice presidents.



After the Supreme Court's glaring overreach, Congress must now step in and
assert its constitutional authority.
