Hi Friend — Just over two years ago, we celebrated the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), or what we call the affordable clean energy plan: the world’s largest-ever investment in climate and clean energy to date! Passing a momentous bill like the clean energy plan took years of work from all of us, and translating it into real-world benefits takes all of us, as well.

With the support of dedicated LCV members like you, and strong leadership from the Biden-Harris administration, we have spent these last two years holding elected leaders accountable to implement and steward the promises set forth by the IRA — including by defending these investments against repeated attacks from polluters and their allies in Congress.

Our efforts have helped to roll out countless initiatives that are making it easier for everyday people to save hundreds of dollars on energy costs, creating hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs, and investing in environmental justice in historically polluted and disadvantaged communities to create a cleaner and more equitable future for all.

Take a look at just a fraction of what’s been accomplished since the IRA was passed:

🏡 Energy efficient home upgrades. 

The IRA has helped to save everyday people up to 30% on upfront costs of installing more energy efficient appliances such as induction stoves, insulation, heat pumps, and rooftop solar through tax credits. 

💪 Creating green jobs in nearly every state. 

Since 2022, the IRA has helped to create more than 330,000 good-paying, clean energy jobs throughout the country, many of which do not require a four-year college degree. 

🌳 Investing in environmental justice.

Programs like the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund drive both public and private investment in climate and clean energy projects, already reaching nearly half a trillion dollars in just two years, and helping communities to make these projects a reality. The program will fund tens of thousands of projects, especially in low-income and disadvantaged communities, such as energy efficient retrofits for homes that will result in cleaner air, lower energy bills, and more good jobs nationwide.
