BREAKING: Nancy Pelosi just told MSNBC that the next coronavirus relief
bill WILL include vote by mail!

This comes as the PCCC and a coalition of groups representing millions of
people across the nation called on the House to support vote by mail --
and thousands more pitched in to help air our ad calling for the same.

Vote by mail -- and requirements like ballots being automatically sent to
all voters -- is a key piece of what progressives are pushing for in the
next coronavirus bill. But with the debate about the next phase of relief
starting this week, it’s important for the Democratic House to seize
control of the process from Mitch McConnell and set the terms of debate.

Americans need House Democrats to go further to ensure this bill meets the
scale of the crisis at hand. That means real financial relief for millions
of Americans by recurring cash payments, canceling student debt, expanding
Social Security benefits, and other measures during this crisis -- The
People’s Agenda.

We just saw what happens when Democrats dare McConnell to oppose popular
ideas.

McConnell proposed allowing states to go bankrupt instead of passing more
relief. One Democratic governor said, “I dare you...You want to send a
signal to the markets that this nation is in real trouble? You want to
send an international message that the economy is in turmoil? Do that.”
Not only did McConnell back down -- other Republicans joined in
criticising him.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why House Democrats should go first, go bold, set the terms of
the debate. Tell them here.

With the next House bill reportedly coming sometime this week, it's more
important than ever for Pelosi and members of the House to hear from
everyday people about what they want.

Our country is facing an unprecedented crisis, and Congress must put
forward a bill that meets the scale of the problems we face. Here are
things House Democrats should do:

 1. Keep people on payrolls: Stop mass layoffs and preserve employment
relationships for all businesses, including small businesses. Ensure
federal dollars go to workers and small businesses, not enriching CEOs
and Wall Street.
 2. Provide financial relief: Expand aid for the most vulnerable,
including direct recurring cash assistance, increased food aid, debt
cancellation, and eviction protections.
 3. Protect public health: Work through existing public health care
systems like Medicaid and Medicare to provide no-cost care -- at
minimum for anyone who doesn’t already have coverage, but also
accounting for under-insurance by those who do have coverage
 4. Defend elections: Enact a vote-by-mail requirement for 2020 federal
elections while attaching strings requiring states to remove as many
steps from the voting process as possible -- such as mailing ballots
automatically to all voters at their homes like they do in Washington
and Colorado.
 5. Cancel student debt during the crisis.
 6. Expand Social Security checks during the crisis.
 7. Strengthen Oversight: The Congressional Oversight Commission operates
free from interference from Trump. This bill could give it subpoena
power and jurisdiction over the Paycheck Protection Program, and help
ensure that these funds are directed to the small businesses who need
it most.
 8. Embrace the Essential Workers Bill Of Rights: Senator Elizabeth Warren
and Rep. Ro Khanna proposed a set of extra protections for frontline
workers -- ranging from premium pay to whistleblower protection to
ending worker misclassification to union rights.
 9. More Conditions On Corporations: Fix loopholes created in prior
corporate giveaways by creating strict guardrails and accountability.
10. Anti-Corruption: We need strong protections against conflicts of
interest, disclosure of lobbying for relief funds, ban on political
and lobbying spending by companies getting aid.

And, Democrats must ensure the next package provides relief to every
person in this country, regardless of tax or immigration status, age, or
disability.

the next coronavirus relief bill -- and urge Pelosi & House Dems to seize
control of the debate from McConnell by going big on relief to workers and
students & holding corporations accountable.
