I recently joined an LGBTQ+ Unity call with the Human Rights Campaign’s "Out for Kamala" initiative.

I was truly moved by the enthusiasm and support for Kamala’s campaign from the LGBTQ+ community. We know that she will be a leader on LGBTQ+ issues, just like she has always been throughout her career.

On the other hand, we’re also well aware that Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and the MAGA GOP’s Project 2025 will spend the next five years fomenting violent culture wars. We can’t risk four more years of Donald Trump and a return to the problems of the past, like hatred, divisiveness, and dangerous levels of anti-LGBTQ+ fervor.

Democrats need to SWEEP the November elections to not only move the public conversation beyond the hatred from the other side but to move equality forward in a meaningful way. For LGBTQ+ folks, our very sense of belonging is on the line.

I am running for Congress, and if elected, I’ll be the first-ever openly transgender member of that chamber. I am ready to be a voice for our community and for so many people across Delaware and the nation who are ready to fight back.
