John,

As the summer quickly comes to a close, students like me are preparing to go back to school. There will be back to school shopping, new teachers to meet, and new friends to make.

This was once my favorite time of the year. But now, the anticipation of returning to school is riddled with fear for me, my peers, parents, and teachers alike. In fact, Brady recently conducted a Morning Consult poll that found 77% of parents are concerned their child’s school could be the site of a mass shooting.

Let that sink in a moment, friend. Instead of worrying about their kids' studies or the clubs they’ll join, over three-quarters of parents are fearing for their kids’ lives at school.

And rightfully so. Across the country, our classrooms have become places of fear and violence instead of places of learning. Since the Columbine massacre, more than 375,000 students in the U.S. have experienced gun violence at school. School security has become a $3 billion industry. From classroom shields, to metal detectors, to bulletproof backpacks, this is a devastating reality for American children.

Something has to change.

The answer isn’t bulletproof backpacks or arming teachers. We need to change the laws, change the gun industry, and change the culture of firearms in America using evidence-based solutions proven to save lives.

We need safe storage laws as 82% of students who bring guns to school live in states without any safe storage mandates. We need a national ban on assault weapons as they have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters. And we need to ensure that students like me across the country finally feel safe in school.

If you’ve had ENOUGH of children being gunned down, if you fear for your child’s safety, I ask that you join me in taking action right now. Brady and Team ENOUGH are demanding that our elected officials pass common-sense gun laws to protect us from senseless gun violence. [[link removed]]

VICTORY: FOUR New Gun Violence Prevention Laws in Delaware!

[link removed] [[link removed]]

Gov. John Carney at the bill signing ceremony with advocates and lawmakers.

Exciting news out of Delaware: FOUR life-saving gun violence prevention bills were signed into law this week!

This follows months of advocacy by Brady’s state policy team and grassroots volunteers, and builds on recent victories in the state to bolster gun safety laws. The four new laws take a comprehensive approach to reduce the many forms of gun violence impacting Delaware residents:

✅ H.B.155 requires firearms to be stored safely in vehicles, helping reduce firearm theft in the state.
✅ H.B. 311 bans firearms on college campuses to help protect students, staff, and teachers from senseless gun violence.
✅ H.B. 270 ensures that ammunition is kept locked and can only be sold with oversight from an employee, which will help reduce high rates of ammunition theft in the state.
✅ H.B. 342 creates a ‘voluntary do-not-sell registry’ for firearms, so those who fear they might harm themselves or others are not able to purchase firearms.

We want to especially thank the sponsors of these bills, Rep. Griffith, Rep. Romer, Rep. Morrison, Sen. Sokola, and Rep. Williams, and grassroots supporters like you, John, who called, emailed, and made your voice heard.
