Following up. Since we sent this email about Trump’s comments disparaging recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, his running mate JD Vance responded.

Instead of agreeing that there is absolutely no comparison, Vance made excuses for Trump. But that’s okay. We’ll do it for him.

Trump made a direct equivalence between awarding a wealthy donor and political ally the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Medal of Honor — earned only by troops who risk their lives and show extraordinary bravery and self-sacrifice in combat.

Matter of fact, Trump went further than that. He said, “When we gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom… It’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor… it’s actually much better…” JD, a Veteran should know that there is nothing remotely similar to our country’s highest Military honor and the men and women who earn it. None.

Late last night, a video released from a Trump campaign event that was unbelievably depraved — even for Trump.

We know Trump’s comments on the fallen well. “Suckers” and “Losers.” We know he asked, “What was in it for them?” alongside the father of a fallen Marine — his own Chief of Staff. The list goes on.

But yesterday, Trump dishonored and disparaged the men and women who earned the Medal of Honor, even sometimes at the cost of their own lives. The quote here:

“When we gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom… It’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor… it’s actually much better because everyone gets the Congressional Medal, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead. She gets it and she’s a healthy beautiful woman… and they’re rated equal.”

This man is a traitor. He is a liar. He is incapable of understanding sacrifice because he has only ever served himself. The former Commander in Chief has no sense of respect or responsibility for the Troops who served under him — and disparaging fallen heroes who received the Congressional Medal of Honor is among the clearest examples we have ever seen.
