[1]NNU - Medicare for All!
   This is huge:
Yesterday, the White House announced the long-awaited results of its first
round of price negotiations with the pharmaceutical industry, and 9 out of
10 of the most expensive and popular medications under Medicare are being
   slashed in half or more!
These are just some of the examples:
[ [link removed] ]Table of Medicare drug price changes
Over the next few years, Medicare will incrementally begin negotiating the
prices of a larger and larger set of the most expensive pharmaceutical
drugs. As a result of this first round of price negotiations, the Medicare
program will save $6 billion on prescription drugs and Medicare
beneficiaries will save an additional $1.5 billion in out-of-pocket costs
in just 2026 alone.^1 That is a significant material difference in
   people’s lives.
These cuts to out-of-pocket costs were made possible through the Inflation
Reduction Act and Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote in the
Senate, and they’re just the beginning.
It is an amazing win and a great example of what we propose in a
single-payer health care system like Medicare for All: Medicare should
negotiate ALL drug prices and provide guaranteed care for all, regardless
of a person’s ability to pay.
This progress was made possible because of years of organizing across the
health care justice movement. We took on Big Pharma and won. But we have
to continue building on this momentum.
