Hey team, we’ve got an update for you on a case that’s critical for our movement: Voters supported by one of our affiliates just filed an appeal to help protect equal representation for Black voters in Louisiana.
Earlier this year, a lower court wrongly struck down the state’s Voting Rights Act-compliant map that created two congressional districts where Black voters could elect the candidates of their choice. Voters have managed to keep the map in place for this fall’s election, but what happens next is critical. Now Louisiana voters supported by our affiliate, the National Redistricting Foundation, are appealing to the Supreme Court to ensure their voices are heard, in an effort to overturn the lower court’s decision.
While this battle plays out in court, All On The Line is working across the country to end map manipulation that silences the will of the people.

Here’s why this court case in Louisiana is so critical: Black Louisianians make up about one-third of the state’s population, but if the map is overturned before the 2026 elections, Black voters would only have the opportunity to elect the candidate of their choice in just one of the state’s six congressional districts.
It’s appalling. That’s why voters supported by our affiliate fought for — and won — the ability to use the new map in November’s election while this case is pending. And that’s why you and other All On The Line supporters stand ready, before this election and beyond, to speak out against any attempt to undermine our democracy.
This sort of map manipulation drives unearned power, enabling lawmakers to ram through wildly unpopular laws that limit reproductive rights, make health care more unaffordable, upend voting rights, and even take away our civil rights.
Thank you for being a part of this work,
All On The Line
