Hey John,

You know governments charge you too many taxes.

But did you know you pay taxes on top of taxes at the gas station?

When you head to the gas station and fill up your car, you are paying Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax and the federal excise gas tax. In most provinces, you also pay provincial gas taxes. If you live in Vancouver, Victoria or Montreal, add a transit tax on top of that.

But Ottawa is also charging you extra GST, not just on the price of gas, but on top of the cost of all those other taxes.

This is called tax-on-tax.

Many provinces are hitting drivers with a tax-on-tax as well.

The federal tax-on-tax for the carbon tax alone will cost Canadians $595 million this year. And Ottawa doesn’t even pretend to send any rebates for all of that tax-on-tax.

You already pay enough taxes every year, you shouldn’t be paying taxes on top of your taxes too.

Will you sign the PETITION and join the fight to stop the tax-on-tax?

It’s wrong for the government to charge taxes on top of the other taxes it already forces us to pay.

All governments need to stop collecting tax-on-tax.

We, the undersigned, call on all governments to stop collecting tax-on-tax.

Governments need to scrap taxes that make life more expensive, but fighting to end tax-on-tax is another way to get taxpayers much needed relief.
