Hey Everyone,
I know you're probably getting a lot of emails from my dad—trust me, I do too, and I’m just down the hall from him! Growing up, our home was always a hub for political events. My dad would host senators, governors, and even presidents. I still remember the time I shared my birthday party with Congressman Brad Sherman’s fundraiser; I’ve still got a comb from that day to prove it.
While I’ve always admired my dad’s ability to make a difference, I never really got involved in his political efforts—until I met Kamala. When she came and gave a speech at our home while running for California Attorney General, her passion and excitement inspired me to get involved. Since then, she has become like an auntie to me. In fact, we often joke that we have a guest room in our home dedicated just for her visits.
This past month, just a few days before she became the nominee, we hosted her at our home again. It was an incredibly inspiring experience, hearing her words and seeing firsthand what her campaign means to women, South Asians, immigrants, and so many Americans who just can’t take another four years of Trump’s chaos and divisiveness.
Kamala truly understands the challenges that women, especially those in my generation, face. As a South Asian, mixed-race woman, and the daughter of immigrants, her story has given me the courage to pursue my own dreams without hesitation. (Sorry, Dad, I’m not running for president!) But as excited as I am about Kamala, I’m equally terrified at the thought of another four years under Trump’s leadership—with its endless lies, xenophobic policies, and lack of support for our generation in accessing education, securing good jobs, and owning homes. I fear that millions in my generation may never fully recover.
While I may not be as politically inclined as my brilliant father—you guys know he’s a full-time doctor saving lives, right?—I do believe in Kamala’s character, experience, and compassion. Most importantly, I believe it’s time for a woman to lead our nation. Kamala has the potential to be a great president, but she needs our support.
Please consider contributing to our grassroots fundraising efforts to ensure that Kamala’s "Brat Summer" turns into a victory this fall. Donate Now!
Thank you for considering this request. And rest assured, if you donate, I’ll make sure my dad sends fewer emails—I promise!
Best,
Maaeda
P.S. If you’re not able to donate, please look for opportunities to volunteer your time with the local campaign, convince a neighbor to vote (especially in Nevada, Michigan and Pennsylvania), and be active on social media to get the truth out about Kamala and combat misinformation. It all adds up and makes a difference. For more info, check out KamalaHarris.com or her TikTok #KamalaHarris.
